Mealworms
The students in 1/2L have been learning about mealworms in the school's growing and changing science unit.
Students have enjoyed observing and holding the mealworms, shells and the bugs. Students are examining the changes that mealworms, other animals and humans go through over time.
Special thanks go to Miss Lisa, who provided everyone with additional information about mealworms.
Gunnedah High School
The high school's year 7 students are the lucky recipients of a generous donation from the Australian Office Products Charitable Fund.
Students received a book pack including; binder books, exercise books, ballpoint pens, display books, erasers, coloured pencils, lead pencils, highlighters, rulers, pencil sharpeners and visual art diaries.
Each year the charity identifies worthwhile causes and assists with funds and/or products to help alleviate hardships being suffered in the community.
This year they chose to assist schools who have been affected by the ongoing drought.
The Australian Office Products Charitable Fund has been operating for over 20 years and has distributed over $1m to children's charities throughout Australia. The charity is run by volunteers and receives its support from companies within the office products industry.
Book packs are available from the front office if a year 7 student hasn't received one yet.
Carinya Christian School
Carinya students from prep to year 8 had a great day at the Gunnedah pool for their swimming carnival. Students took part in many fun activities in and out of the pool.
Parents and caregivers also enjoyed a sausage sizzle for lunch with students and teachers.
One of the highlights for the day was the Carinya Cup. This takes place every year and is a fun raft race between different teams. The teams consisted of groups of students, as well as a team of teachers.
The teams built and decorated their raft according to a theme. As always, there was plenty of cheering and support from the rest of the school as they enjoyed the fun.
